This website, drnickinewton.com, is run by Newton Education Solutions, the company of Dr. Nicki Newton, based in Connecticut, USA. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Newton Education Solutions.

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what we collect when you use this site, what we do with it, and the choices you have. It covers this website only. Dr. Nicki's online courses, the Gigglenook store and the other sites we link to are run on their own platforms and have their own policies.

What we collect

Information you give us

• Your email address, when you sign up for a free resource or join our email list.
• Your name, email address, school or district, and your message, when you send us an inquiry about professional development or anything else.
• Whatever you choose to include when you email us directly.

Information collected automatically

• Usage information. We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are (city or region, never a street address), the kind of device and browser, and the site that referred you. Google Analytics sets cookies to do this. We don't use it to identify you personally.
• Search words. Words typed into the site's search box may be recorded, without any personal details, so we can see what people are looking for and improve what the site offers.
• Server logs. Like every website, our hosting provider records basic technical details of each request, such as IP address, time and page, to keep the site secure and running.
• Fonts. The typefaces on this site are served by Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google to load them and Google receives your IP address when it does.
• Videos. Some pages show videos hosted on YouTube, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. YouTube receives your IP address when a video player loads, and sets cookies only once you press play.

What we don't collect

• We don't take payments on this site, so we never see or store card details. Books, courses and products are bought on other sites, under their policies.
• There are no user accounts on this site.
• We don't run advertising on this site, and we don't use advertising or remarketing cookies.

How we use it

• To send you what you asked for, such as a free resource.
• To send you our emails, if you signed up for them. See the next section.
• To reply when you contact us, and to follow up on a professional development inquiry.
• To understand how the site is used and make it better.
• To keep the site secure, and to meet our legal obligations.

Email from us

When you give us your email address to get a free resource, or to join the list, you are signing up to receive email from Dr. Nicki Newton. That means the resource you asked for, followed by newsletters with teaching ideas and news about books, courses, events and other things we offer.

You can stop at any time. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, or you can write to us at our email address (shown when JavaScript is on) and we will take you off the list.

Cookies and analytics

A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. The cookies on this site come from Google Analytics and are used for measurement only.

• You can set your browser to refuse cookies or to warn you before accepting one. The site will still work.
• You can opt out of Google Analytics on every website with Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information only in these cases:

• Service providers that help us run the site and keep in touch with you: our hosting provider, Google for analytics and fonts, and Zoho Campaigns, which holds our email list and sends our newsletters. They may use your information only to provide that service to us.
• When the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our visitors or the public.
• If the business changes hands. If Newton Education Solutions is ever sold or merged, your information may pass to the new owner, under this policy.

How long we keep it

• Your email address stays on our list until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it.
• Inquiries and emails are kept for as long as we need them to respond and to keep a record of our work with you.
• Analytics data is kept for a limited period set in Google Analytics, currently no longer than 14 months.

Your choices and rights

• Unsubscribe from our emails at any time.
• Ask us what information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it or delete it. Write to our email address (shown when JavaScript is on). We aim to reply within 30 days.

Depending on where you live, including California, Canada, the United Kingdom and the European Union, the law may give you further rights, such as the right to a copy of your information or to object to how it is used. We will honor those rights. We will not treat you differently for using them.

Children's privacy

This website is written for adults: teachers, coaches, school leaders and families. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Links to other sites

This site links to other websites, including Dr. Nicki's courses, the Gigglenook store, booksellers, publishers and social media. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information. Please read their policies.

Security

The security of your information is important to us, but no method of sending information over the internet, or of storing it electronically, is completely secure. We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your information and cannot guarantee absolute security.

Visitors from outside the United States

This site is operated from the United States, and the information we collect is processed and stored there. If you visit from another country, your information will be transferred to the United States.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top. Changes take effect when they are posted.
